Year 6 Residential 2017: Day 5

Year 6 Residential 2017: Day 5

We are on the coach on the way home (sob, sniff) after an awesome week at Paccar. The weather has been fantastic and so have all the instructors.

This morning, as it was our final day, we were treated to a full English breakfast to help us with our packing. We then began a morning of activities both old and new. One group started with High Ropes, whilst the others went to a new activity called Leap of Faith.

High Ropes is a lot like Go Ape where you tackle different challenges up in the treetops. Most of the children took part and we were all very proud of David who managed to complete the whole course. A real achievement because he struggles with heights. His face was a picture at the bottom of the zip line and it was clear how proud he felt.

Leap of Faith involved climbing a tall pole and standing on a platform at the top. Once your partner has reached the top too, you both jump off , grab a trapeze swing and hang around for a bit. Many found this one a challenge, but once they had jumped once were quite happy to try again.

As we have already said, it has been an amazing week  but what has made it so amazing is the children. they have shown unending courage and resilience facing some quite tough activities. They have really demonstrated the school’s values of trust, friendship, resilience, courage and teamwork. They have done St Richard’s proud.

So that’s it for another year. We’re already looking forward to next year.

See you soon with all our dirty, smelly washing!
